When Wyatt Workman was seven years old, he set out to save the sea. Literally. You see, Wyatt loves the ocean, and was very upset to learn about all of the trash destroying its inhabitants. Wyatt also loves clay. And that’s how an idea was born.
Wyatt made a Claymation movie, Save the Sea from the Trash Monster!, about a Trash Monster who is taking over the ocean, but the sea animals fight back. Watch the movie and see what happens:
After finishing the movie, Wyatt wrote a book about it and made a lot of little clay objects. His idea was to “sell the clay objects and the movie and the book and get a lot of money like I was rich, but I wasn’t going to keep that money. I wanted to give that money to Oceana so I can help save the ocean.”
So he did. Remember, he was SEVEN.
Since that first art show two years ago, Wyatt has held other art shows, spoken at events, and raised over $5,000 from his art, book, and T-shirts, to support Oceana, a “cool group that wants to save the ocean, too.”
So, what’s up next for Wyatt, now nine?
“I want to be like Martin Luther King, Jr. and do something to make the world a better place,” says Wyatt.
We think he already has. Way to go, Wyatt. Bulletin Bottle [.com] thinks you’re a pretty great kid!
