No matter where you live in the world today, I think we can all agree that there is a lot going on at the moment. If you watch the news even for a minute, you’re bombarded with heart-wrenching, negative news stories as far as the eye can see. Between natural disasters, climate change, political despair, unnecessary violence, and everything in between …simply being a human in 2022 can be overwhelming. If we stop for a minute to really think about it all and take it all in, it can quickly become overwhelming. With all of that said, it’s more important than ever to take care of yourself, both physically and emotionally. Prioritizing self-care should be non-negotiable, so here are some tips for doing just that.
Stay hydrated. Since we are a water bottle company, you probably saw this one coming. But this truly is one of the easiest, but most impactful self-care habits you can create. Chronic dehydration leads to a host of physical ailments, so it’s nearly impossible to feel good physically if you’re dehydrated. So, grab your emotional-support water bottle and take it everywhere you go. Fuel your body with lots of water throughout your day as best you can!
Set Boundaries. This is easier said than done we know, but important, nonetheless. This looks very different for different people and can be done in a variety of different settings. For example, this doesn’t always mean that you’re setting boundaries with people. You can set boundaries with technology or social media as well. That could mean that you don’t use your phone after 8pm as you start getting ready for sleep. Or you only allow yourself a certain amount of time per day for reading the news, so you don’t end up doom-scrolling. Or you unfollow accounts that don’t inspire you or make you feel good. These small actions each day can have immense impact on our overall mental health.
Breathe. Ok, we know you’re breathing right now. But when was the last time you put aside a couple of minutes to do nothing but breathe? To just sit there, not looking at your phone or watching tv or sending an email …but instead just focusing on your breathing. It’s probably been a while, hasn’t it? Or maybe you’ve never done that? The practice of slowing down and going inward can be extremely beneficial, even when done for 2-5 minutes. On your way to the office? Take a minute in the car. Folding laundry? Take a minute to yourself. Connecting with our bodies as we breathe, and taking deep breaths as we do that, is a game changer. Trust me!
These are obviously just a few self-care practices, but they are ones that work for us that we wanted to share with you all. We know it’s a crazy world out there, but when we focus on taking care of ourselves and our communities, it starts to feel a bit more manageable. Share these self-care tips with your team or audience as you pass out their reusable water bottles!
